Comparison

GetResponse vs AWeber

Pricing, send limits, automation and features compared at your own list size. Prices checked 8 September 2026.

Quick verdict

Two long-established providers with genuinely different propositions. GetResponse bundles things AWeber does not sell at all (webinars, a website builder, course hosting, conversion funnels) and does not cap sending on any paid plan. AWeber offers a narrower email product with the best support arrangement in this whole comparison, including real phone support, and a fully published rate card so you can see your price before signing up. On raw email cost GetResponse Starter now undercuts AWeber Lite at most bands from 1,000 contacts up, and Lite is restricted to one list and three automations anyway, which makes the fair comparison AWeber Plus against GetResponse Marketer, where GetResponse is usually cheaper and more capable. GetResponse quotes UK visitors in pounds; AWeber prices in dollars, so the FX exposure sits on the AWeber side.

Automation

GetResponse wins, with one important caveat. Its builder is mature, with branching, scoring, abandoned cart and web-event triggers, but the Starter tier allows exactly one workflow, so real automation means Marketer or above. AWeber Plus offers unlimited automations with tag, open and click triggers and branching; AWeber Lite caps you at three. Compare Marketer against Plus and GetResponse is clearly deeper.

Ecommerce features

GetResponse Marketer includes ecommerce tools, abandoned cart recovery, product recommendations and web push. AWeber Plus supports ecommerce and can sell products directly, but charges a 0.6% transaction fee on sales, which GetResponse does not. GetResponse Starter has no ecommerce tools at all, so the tier you pick matters more than the brand you pick.

Forms and landing pages

Both include signup forms and landing pages on every paid plan. GetResponse goes considerably further: conversion funnels, a five-site website builder on Creator, and a much larger template library. AWeber Lite allows three landing pages, with unlimited pages on Plus. For anything beyond a straightforward opt-in page, GetResponse gives you more to work with.

Email send limits

A real difference in favour of GetResponse: unlimited sends on every paid plan, at every band. AWeber allows ten sends per subscriber on Lite and twelve on Plus, which is 60,000 emails a month at the 5,000 band. Ample for most, but a hard ceiling if you mail daily. High-frequency senders should read this row before the price row.

Free plan limits

Neither offers a free plan on its current published pricing. GetResponse provides a 14-day trial with unlimited sends and a GetResponse badge on every message, plus limits on webinar attendees and landing page visits. AWeber offers a 14-day trial on Lite and Plus. If a permanent free tier is a requirement, both are ruled out and MailerLite, Sender or EmailOctopus are the places to look.

Integrations

Both cover the essentials: Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, PayPal, Stripe and Zapier. GetResponse adds Magento and a deeper set of ecommerce connectors reflecting its Marketer tier. AWeber has a long tail of integrations built up over two decades, including Etsy and Canva, which suits its small-business and creator base.

Deliverability

Both are strong and both have earned it. AWeber has been sending since 1998 with an in-house deliverability team and long-established IP reputation, and offers dedicated IPs. GetResponse has a comparable twenty-five-year history, shared and dedicated IP options and published deliverability documentation. We score AWeber slightly higher on track record alone. Neither number is a measured inbox rate.

Support

AWeber wins, and this is its clearest advantage over the entire field. Paid plans get 24/7 email and live chat plus genuine phone support during US business hours. GetResponse offers 24/7 chat and email on all paid plans in eight languages, with phone reserved for Enterprise. If a human on a telephone matters to your operation, that decides it.

Ease of use

AWeber is simpler because it does less, and that is a real advantage for a small team. GetResponse is the broadest product in this comparison and correspondingly the hardest to navigate: the funnel, webinar and course modules each have their own conventions. AWeber shows its age in places, with newer screens sitting over older ones, but the path through it is short.

Alternatives worth checking

If neither of these fits, these are the providers we would look at next and why.

How we compared these two

Prices come from each provider’s own published pricing page. The source URL and the date we checked it are shown against every figure in the calculator above; where a band has not yet been confirmed against the source it is labelled “needs review” rather than presented as confirmed.

The ranking in the calculator is by price alone. Our editorial scores, automation, ease of use, deliverability, support, do not reorder it. They inform the verdict and the use-case winners above, and each score has its reasoning written out on the provider’s own page.

We do not run our own inbox placement tests, so nothing in the deliverability section should be read as a measured inbox rate. It reflects published sending infrastructure, authentication and IP options, and documented provider policy.
